There’s power in knowing who you are

29th Sydenstar, shortly after midnight – Port Damali

She takes a deep, steadying breath as she sits down on an empty bench at the side of the road for a moment. The suude surging through her veins enhances the feeling the day has left kindling in her. Feelings of power and skill. Feelings of lust and love. Another deep breath and a sip out of the bottle. Through the lids of her closed eyes, she feels as if she can sense the arcane weave of the world forever changing and swirling accompanied by the dull hum of blood in her ears. Faintly, she remembers the feeling of having way more than this amount in her body and casting a spell amid a chamber filled with way too many residuum contraceptions — a sense of raw arcane power that nothing ever has come close to since. The closest times were destroying Lord Wulff’s mind with a few words or holding two spellcasters in paralysis earlier. For a long moment, she lets herself just lose herself in this glorious sensation of feeling bodiless and yet so very self-aware at the same time.

She is filled with the certainty that all of this is just right. How it’s supposed to be. Who she is. She knows that Tharan has moments of uncertainty, self-doubt, and underestimation of himself. But every day that passes makes her more aware of who and what she truly is. Perhaps it’s rooted in her upbringing and education which from early on was focused on enabling her to take the road her uncle has set for her. Even at ten years old she knew that one day she was supposed to have a seat in the Assembly, that one day she was meant to be a ruler. Here and now she’s thankful for all that her uncle has taught her, has set up for her, and has pushed her towards. And all the holes that had been left are being filled bit by bit by Tharan and furthermore just by life and her decision of just living it to the fullest.

There is so much to learn, so much to do, and so many people to meet; an unending plethora of possibilities just as the arcane weave she has learned to methodically manipulate. In the past, she had satisfied her craving for knowledge by studying relentlessly. But by now she knows that she craves more than just knowledge and also that there are more things and people that satisfy the same need.
